Lavender and Limestone:
A Women’s Retreat on the Island of Braç, Croatia

June 12-19, 2027

Join Sheila Ewers for an unforgettable week of yoga, Mediterranean beauty, and soulful connection on Croatia’s luminous island of Brač.

On the sun-drenched island of Brač, where ancient limestone villages rise from hills scented with wild lavender and the Adriatic glows in endless shades of blue, we gather for a week devoted to beauty, renewal, and the quiet remembering of who we are.

Lavender & Limestone is a women’s retreat inspired by the elements that define this remarkable island—stone shaped by centuries, fragrant fields that bloom beneath the Mediterranean sun, and the vast, luminous sea. Together these become a metaphor for the our own journey: rooted yet wild, enduring yet blossoming, strong yet deeply receptive.

For centuries, Brač’s luminous limestone has built palaces, temples, and homes across the Mediterranean—even contributing to the stone of the White House. The lavender that blankets the island each summer perfumes the air and invites us to slow our pace, breathe deeply, and soften into the rhythms of island life.

Our Island Home

Brač is the island closest to Split and the tallest in the Adriatic, with its highest peak Vidova Gora, from which you can see Italy on a clear day. It holds 30% of all olive trees in Dalmatia and produces some of the world’s finest olive oils. Legend says its snow-white stone built Diocletian’s Palace in Split, the White House in Washington, and the Parliament in Vienna.

• Selca, minutes from Bliss Bay, has the highest number of monuments per capita in the world — 14 monuments for a village of 700 people.

• Pustinja Blača hermitage, legendary Zlatni Rat beach, Dragon’s Cave, and the Stonemasonry School in Pučišća all await.

It’s also the island from which my own ancestors migrated to Pensacola, Florida!

The easiest route to our retreat is through Split, Croatia. There are many international flights arriving in Split daily.

The map above shows both the ferry/catamaran route Split–Supetar (north coast) and the catamaran route Split–Bol (south coast). Bliss Bay is on the south-east tip of the island, near Sumartin. From Sumartin port you can also take the ferry directly to Makarska on the mainland — ideal for guests heading south after the retreat.
